Missing in action

Last year one of my computers was stolen from my classroom. The sorry, crackheadloser broke the window and took the computer that he could reach out through the window. He wasn't so ignorant that he didn't know that the motion detector would go off and sound the alarm if he came on in and took everything and went through the door on the way out. Well that pissed me off really bad. Yesterday, the library assistant came in to check inventory (for the 3rd time so far this year) and she asked about my digital camera. So, I went to show it to her, sure, here it is. Well, there it wasn't. I hadn't even used it yet this year, but I have taken it out of the box with the intent to use it once, but couldn't because I didn't have the card for it. I may have laid it on my desk or put it back, I can't remember. But, it is gone either way, because I looked and looked and it's nowhere to be found. I told the kids that the camera was missing and that, since there are no thieves in the room, it must have been "misplaced." So I offered a reward of five bucks and a week's worth of computer instead of morning work. Some kids said they didn't want the reward, just to help, one even said he would buy a new camera for me (to take pics of the class for the website). But I suspect my new student. He was not a part of my group last year....he's new this year. He's also 2 years overage, almost 13 in the 5th grade. He is always out of his seat, taking things off my desk and tearing up the jacks and balls that are (were) in the PE box. Also, his mother called and told me that he called her at work and said that he told her he wanted a transfer. I wanted SO BAD to tell her to check his room/bag/whatever for the camera. There have been just too many clues that point to him.
We will see how this drama turns out....
